The Editors of the ANU Journal of Law and Technology invite submissions for our upcoming special issue on the role of artificial intelligence in legal education and the practice of law in Australia.

Public discussion on AI and law range from proclamations on the professions’ upcoming digital replacement, to quick dismissal. With this, legal professionals and educators are grappling with whether such technologies offer more hype than promise, or whether they have truly transformative potential.

This special issue aims to explore the opportunities, challenges, and implications that AI presents for teaching and learning law and providing legal services. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

●  Potential applications of AI in law school curricula and pedagogy.

●  The potential for AI to enhance student engagement.

●  The use of AI for legal research and writing.

●  The potential impacts on access to justice and legal services by AI.

Submissions must be original, unpublished works adhering to the journal's publication guidelines. Articles should have some level of Australian focus or engagement. We welcome abstracts from academics, practitioners, and students.

Initial abstracts of 300-500 words are due by 9 August 2024. Authors of accepted abstracts will be informed by 12 August 2024. Final manuscripts of 5,000-10,000 words are expected by 25 October 2024. All manuscripts will be peer reviewed. Final publication is expected by early 2025.

However, if you have piece on law and technology unrelated to this specific topic, ANU JOLT is still accepting general submissions for Volume 5 Issue 1 of our journal.
