The Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law is accepting submissions for our Vol XXVI Symposium Issue, Transcendence: Legal Efforts to Protect and Advance LGBTQIA+ Youth Rights! This issue will be published in Spring 2025, likely late May to mid-June. We are accepting both article and note submissions. Student note submissions should be at least 6,000 words, and scholarly articles should be between 10,000 and 30,000 words in length. All submissions must relate to the symposium topic.

We encourage authors with any scholarly articles and notes related to LGBTQIA+ Youth Rights to submit. Potential topics of discussion may include:
- Bans on gender-affirming care for transgender youth
- Bans on participation of trans youth in sports
- Bans on use of chosen names and pronouns by transgender students in schools
- Bans on amending birth certificates to reflect gender identity rather than sex assigned at birth
- Curriculum bans ("Don't Say Gay"/"Don't Say LGBTQ" Laws)
- Litigation seeking religious exemptions from antidiscrimination laws in schools
- Bathroom bans
- Anti-trans dress codes
- Legal challenges to laws, policies, and regulations affirming trans youth, including the 2024 Title IX regulations
- The impact of affirming trans children on custody battles and child welfare investigations
- Issues faced by LGBTQIA+ youth in state care (e.g. foster care and juvenile justice facilities)

The above list is by no means exhaustive; articles and notes discussing other topics will be considered so long as they relate to the overarching symposium topic. Please send your submission to lawgenderjournal@georgetown.edu. Submissions will be considered on a rolling basis until spots are filled, and all interested authors are encouraged to submit by our priority deadline of November 1st, 2024.

Thank you very much, and we look forward to reading your submissions!
